Even if the characters have not been mischaracterised, the essence of the franchise has been completely lost. "Ice Age: Collision Course" clarifies how much desperate the producers were to have a big box office. There is no logical sense to put modern technology (modern? Sci-fi technology, actually) on "Ice Age", it's a pre-historical franchise! And why they wanted to put a love interest for Sid? Only because Manny and Diego have theirs? Also, Buck's dynamic with the main characters is a little weird here, it seems he was reintroduced in the franchise and Scrat's subplot this time, besides boring, is beyond the absurd. Furthermore, Julian (Peaches' new love interest) is unbearable, he makes me miss Ethan from the other movie. They repeat the same mistake of the previous film, there is no sense of urgency (for an even worse situation this time). They use pop-culture humour (that they never used before) that was already outdated when the film was released, and besides that, the comic timing is catastrophic.
